God blesses these people more than another on earth, but they are to uphold Gods law more strictly that another. It was this promise that has shaped the Jewish community and their religion. The covenant that God made with the people of Israel as recorded in the Torah still has an affect on the Jews and many of them feel that Gos does not limit his love to a particular group. One covenant is an unconditional,l everlasting imparting a renewed mind and heart to the recipient, complete and final forgiveness and the removal of sins. This is also seen in communion in other religions. Also there is the Mosaic covenant that we all know also as the ten commandments. In the world we live in today they are seen throughout many religions as well. Many people fallow these laws and practice them throughout their life.

This is a question that is actually probably a bit too “simple”, I think. In other words, it will be simple for you to do the minimum amount of work here and just list off a couple of examples that seem to fit — and they are likely to be adequate. But, I’m hopeful that we can push this conversation into a bit more important and complicated territory. After all, the notion of “covenant” is an idea that wasn’t just adopted by the Jewish people, but has also been articulated in a variety of ways across a variety of groups. Most relevant to our situation, the first Puritans to establish colonies in North America understood themselves as a “covenant” people, which came with its share of VIOLENCE, not just against Native Americans, but also against its own people (Witch trials). It has also fed into a larger sense of American exceptionalism and the sense that America is and OUGHT TO BE understood as ordained by God to extend itself to the world. These are “covenant” ideas that link peoplehood with a particular understanding of God, and they come with a tremendous share of political and social and cultural violence. So, I’d love to see us put in the extra effort to think more critically about this and just use the initial question to get us started!
